Version 1.018 for AETHUS has landed, bringing a slew of quality-of-life improvements and critical bug fixes that make survival in the wilds of this sci-fi planet a smoother, less frustrating experience.
Smarter Inventory & UI Overhauls
The biggest win for players is the new tooltip feature that shows exactly how many of an item you have stored in your Outpost. No more guessing or running back to base to check. Additionally, two new Settings options let you:
- Auto-open the crafting UI when interacting with any crafting or cooking facility
- Control the scaling of the Compass UI element for better screen real estate
“We’ve added failsafe handling for item boxes spawned at world origin to be placed at the level spawn point instead.”
This means lost loot from falling through the world is now a thing of the past. The facility inventory UI also received a cap on height with a scroll bar, so massive storage facilities no longer break your screen layout.
Critical Fixes for Smooth Survival
This patch squashes several nasty bugs that could ruin a session:
- Fixed the crafting window getting stuck on screen
- Fixed player’s item box spawning at world origin when passing out while ‘flying’
- Prevented dialogue replays from queuing up endlessly
- Fixed the ‘Suffocating’ status effect persisting in safe areas
- Corrected fire SFX not obeying audio sliders
- Fixed rocks incorrectly tagged as destructible
- Resolved a hardlock when picking up placeables while editing names
- Fixed Herbicide Charge placeable visuals during placement
- Eliminated a softlock from passing out due to Negative Vitality Effects while using the Customization Station or Prospecting Bench
It’s a solid maintenance update that shows the devs are listening to player pain points. While not flashy, Version 1.018 makes everyday survival in AETHUS feel more polished and less punishing.
