Spring has officially sprung in the world of AETHUS, and developer Roland is celebrating with a brand-new Spring Fling Event and the game’s twentieth patch since launch. That’s right—twenty patches in just three weeks, and this one brings both seasonal fun and serious quality-of-life improvements.
Spring Fling Event: Egg Hunts and Outpost Decor
The Spring Fling Event adds a short, three-task Easter Egg Hunt questline, complete with fresh voice lines from Roland himself. Completing each stage unlocks new easter egg decorations for your Outpost, plus a handy basket to store them in. The event runs until April 27th at 18:00 UTC, giving you a full month to participate. To start, you’ll need to have finished Facility Iota—after that, the first task triggers automatically. Best part: once unlocked, the decorations are yours to keep on that save slot forever.
Quality of Life: Twenty Patches In
The bulk of version 1.020 focuses on player feedback, with several new settings and improvements:
- New Options: Disable dropping items on death, auto-open crafting UI, auto-grab crafted items, and scale the Compass UI.
- Key Fixes: Item counts now show in tooltips for Outpost storage, and constructions no longer snap to incompatible objects (like Door Seals onto Airlocks).
- Performance: A DX12 launch option is now available on Steam, promising higher framerates and better stability for compatible hardware.
- Roland’s Chassis Lights can now be toggled with a dedicated keybind (default ‘L’).
“This is the twentieth patch in the three weeks since launch - I hope you feel like your feedback has been heard, and will continue to be!”
What’s Coming Soon
The developer has also teased upcoming features, including an option to disable oxygen drain during log reading, a modifier key to disable snapping while building, and improvements to the Hydroponic Farming UI for quicker replanting. With this pace of updates, AETHUS is shaping up to be one of the most responsive early access experiences on Steam—and with launch now only three weeks away, the momentum is only building.
