Even a hardware failure couldn’t keep the AETHUS devs down for long. Version 1.028 has arrived, and while last week was a scramble to recover from a nasty PC crash, the patch delivers some genuinely useful quality-of-life changes and critical fixes that make the world a little safer to build in.

Build Mode Gets Smarter

The biggest new feature is a visual upgrade for Build Mode. Now, any world objects colliding with your current construction will be highlighted. This is especially handy for Structures like Habitats, which will only trigger the highlight when you’re placing other structures. No more guessing if that wall is going to clip through a rock—you’ll see it coming.

Fall Damage? Not Anymore

The Trade Node now has a new upgrade called Shock Absorbers. This increases the distance you can fall before taking damage by a whopping 50%. For players exploring vertical terrain or building tall bases, this is a game-changer—you can now take a much longer tumble without needing to heal up.

Save System and Tutorial Tweaks

  • The backup save system no longer saves on the main menu, reducing identical backups.
  • Maximum backup saves increased from 10 to 12.
  • Descriptions for Bladestone, Vitaglass, Depthane’s Heart, and Miner’s Bane now mention their use in lens crafting.
  • The Consuming Items tutorial now explicitly tells you to eat the Cactus Fruit to finish it. No more confusion for new players.

Critical Fixes

  • A dialogue that unlocks a new facility type now plays reliably after returning with a certain character.
  • Ancient Bones can now be placed into the world.
  • Players can no longer get stuck or die during mesmerization—a welcome fix for anyone who’s been frozen mid-combat.

This patch shows the devs are listening to player feedback, even when real life throws a wrench in the works. The highlight system alone will save headaches during complex builds, and that fall damage upgrade is a subtle but powerful boon for explorers.
