Version 1.029 for AETHUS is live, and while it’s not a massive content drop, it’s a quality-of-life patch that fixes some genuinely annoying bugs and adds a neat new toy for players who want to tweak their survival experience.

New Modifier: Tune Your Resource Drops

The headline feature is the new Resources Game Modifier, now available on the New Game screen and in the Settings menu. This lets you adjust resource drop rates higher or lower than the standard setting. Whether you’re a masochist craving scarcity or a builder who just wants to hoard materials without grinding, this gives you direct control over the economy. It’s a small but welcome addition for replayability.

Dialogue Fixes and Quality-of-Life Improvements

Several changes reduce friction and confusion:

  • Surface dialogues now trigger even if you’ve died, so you won’t miss key story beats or need to reload a save just to catch a conversation.
  • The Module Authenticator item now has grammatically correct flavour text—small, but appreciated by lore hounds.
  • The Passing Out tutorial formatting has been fixed, making it clearer for new players.

Critical Bug Fixes

This patch squashes a few nasty bugs that could ruin a run:

  • Fixed losing items when using a level transition as you die—no more vanishing gear.
  • Placeable items no longer retain a link to habitats when moved outside, preventing issues with habitat deletion and containers keeping phantom bonuses.
  • The natural rock bridge near Facility Rho now has proper collision, so you won’t slide off into the abyss.
  • NVIDIA Image Scaling now works correctly in the settings menu.
  • The Manufacturing Hab cutaway no longer triggers when on the roof, and its roof glass visuals are fixed.
  • Fixed a scenario where the player could die and not return to Omega—a softlock that’s now history.

What This Means for Players

For veterans, the Resources Modifier offers a fresh way to replay, while the bug fixes make the game feel more polished. Newcomers will benefit from the clearer tutorials and less confusing surface dialogue triggers. It’s not a revolution, but it’s the kind of patch that keeps a survival game from feeling janky.

AETHUS continues to refine its rough edges, and while we’re still waiting on that big content update, these fixes show the developers are listening to feedback. If you’ve been on the fence, now’s a good time to dive back in.
