The December 2025 dev update for Blight: Survival reflects on the past twelve months of work. The team partnered with Haenir Studio early in the year, taking over the passion project originally built by Mads and Ulrik. That partnership wasn’t flashy at first — they spent months laying structural groundwork to support a larger, long-term project.
You started seeing results over the course of 2025. They revealed the Marshlands, described as one of the game’s most atmospheric biomes. Bleak and rooted in an alternate 14th century world, it set the tone. They followed up with in-game footage featuring the Wailing Tree, a key landmark inside that biome.
Dungeons got a spotlight too. Tight spaces that ramp up tension, the kind of encounters you’ll want to prepare for.
Concept art played a big role this year. Artists Ana and Mathieu shaped the visual direction before anything hit the engine. One early concept showed the Wailing Tree before it existed in-game. Another explored the Nightstalker, an enemy already present in the dev build in early form, but still being refined visually. The team wants players to approach the Nightstalker with caution — its final look needs to match that role.
They capped off spooky season with an in-game clip of a seaside environment, including a brief enemy encounter. A small moment, but it showed the range of environments they’re building.
