The Blight: Survival team dropped a fresh development update on July 15, 2026, giving us a closer look at what they’ve been building. If you missed their appearance at Future Games Show’s Spring Showcase, they’ve got a video recap showing off finishers, weapons, and environments.
So what exactly is Blight: Survival? It’s a mission-based, PVE action-horror co-op game set in a world overrun by an infection called the Blight. You start each run in your stronghold — the hub — where you gear up before heading into infected lands. Each mission drops you into a handcrafted area where you explore, scavenge, take on side objectives, and push toward your main goal. You manage resources, deal with unpredictable encounters, and make decisions on the fly. Leave early with what you found, or risk pushing further for better rewards. It’s fully playable solo, but teaming up with friends unlocks tactical possibilities through loadout synergy.
New Environments and Interior Spaces
The team’s been showing open fields, but they’re building out the world in all directions. That now includes tighter, more enclosed spaces — castles, corridors, dungeons, caves, and settlements. These areas shift the pace and feel of encounters. World design has been a major focus, balancing scale with density while supporting both solo and multiplayer experiences without losing tension. These interior spaces contrast with the more open, expansive areas you’ve seen, creating a world that constantly shifts in tone and pressure.
The Blight Spread System
The team is expanding the systems that drive how the Blight spreads across the world. They shared a snippet of a work-in-progress tool that lets them control the number of Blight tendrils spreading through the environment, as well as their speed. It’s a visual placeholder for now, but they promise new Blight visuals in the coming months.
Weapons and Combat
The goal for combat remains: brutal, weighty melee that rewards timing and positioning. One-handed swords are faster and more reactive, shining in close quarters. Daggers trade reach for speed and precision. The team’s still working on making combat feel great in both solo and co-op scenarios.
