The RuneScape: Dragonwilds 0.12.0 patch is here, and it’s shaking up the survival loop. The big change? Wardstones and the Wardshield system are gone. Instead of extra shield layers tied to your armor, you’ll now increase your max HP directly by finding Constitution Shrines scattered across Ashenfall.
Why Wardshield Had to Go
The devs explained the core problem: the Wardshield bar became the only real survivability option against higher-level enemies. Once that shield broke, a single hit could kill you. They saw two paths — lean fully into Wardshield and make HP irrelevant, or shift to a single, scalable health pool. They chose the latter.
“We chose the latter, because it’s easier to balance and tune around.”
It also brings the game closer to traditional RuneScape mechanics, where HP is just HP and grows as you progress. The Constitution Shrines act as exploration rewards and key milestones — find them and you’re on the right track.
Food Replaces Healing Potions
Healing potions are removed (stat potions stay). Instead, food now instantly restores HP and provides perks. Fishing becomes a core skill, with fish offering the best raw HP recovery. Other food types will grant buffs instead.
