The RuneScape: Dragonwilds 0.12.0 update, called the Umbral Sands, launches on June 22, 2026. It’s the biggest content drop yet, and the game’s on sale at 30% off until June 25th. You’ll need to fell the Black Knight Titan to get past the gates and into the new region.
The Desert and Its Dangers
The Umbral Sands region draws inspiration from Gielinor’s classic deserts. It’s not just a new map — it’s a survival challenge. Two new environmental hazards change how you move:
- Sunscorch: Stay in the sun too long and you’ll wither. The Scorch debuff drains your hydration fast. Build shelter, stick to shade, or travel at dawn and dusk.
- Quicksand: Misstep and you’re gone. You’ll need to find a way over these patches.
Three new vaults are scattered across the region. There’s also a ton of new music, ambience, and soundscapes to go with the desert vibe.
Bosses, Fights, and a New Arena
The Fight Cave is the big new PvE challenge. Beat the questline, enter the cave, and take on Fuzan, the new Dragon General. Beat him once and you can return for repeat runs with better rewards — rare materials and more. Fuzan’s not the only named boss either. You’ll find keys to unlock the Nightmare Crucible, an arena that throws the worst of Ashenfall at you in waves.

New Gear, Skills, and Tribes
Crafting gets a serious upgrade. Adamant Ore, Yew Wood, and Red Dragonhide are all in the game now. That means new tools (Spade, Watering Can, Pickaxe, Logging Axe), eight new weapons (Crossbow, Dagger, Greataxe, Greatsword, Hammer, Mace, Scimitar, Sword), plus a new armour set and shield. Infinity Cloth lets you spin Infinity Robes. Four Vestige Armour Sets are also available for each combat style.
The Woodcutting and Mining Skill Trees now go all the way to 99, with new spells, recipes, perks, and rewards. Steam Achievements are finally here too. You’ll also meet the scattered Moon Garou tribes, helped by the Jackal-headed god Icthlarin. Complete quests for them to unlock resources, rewards, and cosmetics.
