Next Monday, February 23, marks the first time you’ll actually get your hands on SpaceCraft, as its demo launches alongside Steam Next Fest.

What’s in the Demo

The demo gives you a taste of the game’s core loop, letting you drop into the Solar Alpha system and explore at your own pace. Key features include:

  • Seamless travel between space and planetary surfaces—no loading screens
  • Resource scanning and mining across multiple planets
  • Modular ship building with a variety of tools and components
  • Ship piloting and upgrading as you gather better materials

“This Demo will introduce you to some of the core pillars of the game: exploration, resource gathering, ship building.”

It’s also a chance for the devs to collect feedback, so expect early access to be shaped by what players report during Next Fest.

What This Means for Players

If you’ve been craving a space sandbox that lets you build, fly, and upgrade your own ship without artificial barriers between flight and landing, SpaceCraft might finally scratch that itch. The demo is free, runs during Steam Next Fest, and gives you a direct line to the developers via Steam forums and Discord.

Given the crowded space sim genre, it’s smart of the team to open up early for testing. Whether SpaceCraft stands out will depend on how well its modular ship system and exploration loop hold up under real player pressure. We’ll find out soon enough.
