The Gatac Tyilui is the first alien-designed snub carrier in Star Citizen, built around a zero-gravity hangar that lets players walk on any of four landing pads and launch snub fighters independently.
Not a Railen Variant
The Tyilui arrives alongside the Railen, and while both share similar interiors—mostly the habitation level—the other levels differ significantly to suit each ship’s role. Externally, the front profile is similar, but the sides and rear have been changed to support the snub hangar. The developers confirm it is not a variant of the Railen.
Alien Experience and Hangar Design
The team aimed to make the Tyilui feel “even more alien than the Railen.” The multi-directional gravity hangar at the rear gives a unique traversal experience, allowing players to control the rear hangar door and launch from any pad.
Role in the Ship Ecosystem
The Tyilui is the first dedicated snub-fighter carrier. While other ships can carry snubs indirectly, the Tyilui focuses solely on that role. It can carry:
- Four snub fighters (such as the Fury series, Pitbull, and Merlin)
- 96 SCU of cargo
- Hangar services for repair, rearm, and refuel
Solo and Crewed Play
A solo pilot can carry a selection of ships for personal use, while a larger crew enables launching and using multiple snubs in parallel. The four pads give serious flexibility in combat, allowing the Tyilui and its crew to attack as a single unit or as a mini fleet. The ship can also defend itself with pilot weapons, manned and remote turrets, and missiles when snubs are otherwise engaged.
For players, the Tyilui offers a compact package that extends the reach of small fighters far beyond their usual operating range.
