This week’s Star Citizen update confirms that Alpha 4.9 has landed, introducing a new ship, improved material scanning, and the first phase of a revamped flyby audio system.
Alpha 4.9 Highlights
The patch brings a range of changes, including:
- A new ship that “bashed its way into our hearts”
- Easier material scanning across the universe
- The first rollout of a revamped flyby audio system, with more ships set to receive updated audio in future patches
- A wide range of fixes and quality-of-life improvements for missions, ships, and the UI, addressing docking, inventory, and mission blocker issues

- Bar Citizen World Tour continues: the next stop is Denver, Colorado, on August 15.
- Live server maintenance is scheduled for Tuesday, July 21, starting at 12:00 UTC, with a few hours of downtime expected. Players should log out before maintenance begins.
