The latest Stars Reach patch landed on June 24, 2026, and it’s a chunky one. The devs have been wrestling with space otters in the wiring — their words, not mine — and came out the other side with a bunch of fixes and new features.
Stability and Performance Fixes
The big one here: they fixed a bug where movement prediction failed for players with latency above ~100ms. That was causing noticeable input lag for a lot of folks. They’re also testing more server stability fixes, though they admit they can’t be sure they’ve caught every crash.
“We addressed several and have our fingers crossed that server stability improves visibly.”
The stability issues were also causing very long load times — you’d try to travel to a server that had just gone down. Hopefully those are better now.
UI and Tutorial Updates
There’s a new intro animatic that plays before character creation, giving you some background and lore. The trade window got a rework too — you can now drag items, double-click to move them, see stats on either side, and type in a klaatus amount. Tooltips are in there as well.
The Pathfinder compass now gives clearer scan guidance. If you’re moving, it tells you to stand still. Once you stop, it cycles through messages like “signal weak” or “signal locking” so you know if you’re too far or heading the right way.
The character selection screen now shows where your character last logged in. The Create Character button greys out if you’re at the max. And key inputs work inside menus now — hitting L for missions works while you’re in the inventory screen. Waypoints stay on the edge of your screen if you look away.
The mining mission on Crucible got a few tweaks to make it easier, and the initial mission with Mayor Bob should work better since the key prompts actually function now.
