Subnautica 2 developer Unknown Worlds is shifting focus from rapid hotfixes to its first major early access update, teasing the return of an iconic chassis and a new region described as the “scariest” yet.
Early Access Success and Next Steps
The game has sold over four million copies since its early access launch. After a month of addressing the biggest issues with frequent updates, developer Unknown Worlds is now turning its attention to the first major content update. Design Lead Anthony Gallegos shared details in a new video blog, thanking players for their support and outlining what’s next.
What the First Major Update Includes
The update will introduce a new region that Gallegos calls the game’s “scariest” area yet. Hiding within that region is a chassis that fans have been waiting for—a return of an iconic vehicle or structure from the Subnautica series.
For players, this means the first substantial content drop is on the horizon, bringing both a terrifying new environment and a beloved piece of Subnautica technology back into the fold.
