Windrose has released version 0.10.0.5.120-073042fb, a patch focused on fixing corrupted save files through a new Steam Cloud Saves update.

Save File Improvements

The update introduces a new storage and backup system for save files. Key changes include:

  • Automatic backups every 10 minutes of gameplay and upon exiting
  • Updated save file structure for cloud synchronization to minimize syncing issues
  • Broken save files no longer block the game from loading

Data Recovery and Migration

A Data Recovery UI now appears if the latest save file for a world or character is broken at startup. Players can either quit the game (e.g., to attempt a cloud resync) or recover data from a backup, with the game automatically offering the latest available one.

A Save Migration System converts old save files (pre-version 0.10.0.5.120-073042fb) to the new format, typically seamless and invisible. If old, corrupted files cannot be migrated, a notification window will appear with details and a prompt to delete them.

Other Updates and Known Issue

Additional fixes include correcting D-pad Left mapping in the crafting station UI and updating the Wolf Head item icon.

Characters created before version 0.10.0.4 cannot be deleted due to Steam Cloud synchronization. This is a known issue and will be fixed in a future update.

Players should note that game settings will reset after this patch and should back them up manually if needed. This update provides a much-needed safety net for save file integrity.
